MEGA Elementary Education Multi-Content (007-010) Exam

The Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments (MEGA) Elementary Education Multi-Content (007-010) exam consists of four subtests that allow 40 questions and one hour of testing time for each, for a total of 160 questions, to be completed in four hours.

For
examinees who are nursing mothers or with disabilities that are covered by the
Americans with Disabilities Act and require special accommodations, you may
make this request in writing.

Some of
these accommodations include extended testing time, a separate testing room, the
use of a medical device in the testing room, and trackball mouse. These
accommodations must be approved before testing day.

Some minor
accommodations, or comfort aids that do not require pre-approval include medical
auto-injectors, bandages, cough drops, eye drops, eyeglasses, hearing aid,
inhaler, surgical mask, nasal drops, oxygen tank, cushion, crutches, walker,
and wheelchair.

English Language Arts

The competencies of this subtest that will be evaluated include the comprehension of foundations of language and literacy development; text comprehension and vocabulary development; understanding, interpreting, and analyzing literary and informational texts; and comprehending the processes, modes, and conventions of written and verbal communication.

Mathematics

The competencies of this subtest that will be evaluated include the comprehension of numbers and operations; comprehension of algebraic relationships; and the comprehension of measurement, geometry, and data.

Science

The competencies of this subtest that will be evaluated include the comprehension of science and engineering practices and crosscutting theories; comprehension of the basic concepts of biology; and comprehension of the basic concepts of physical science and Earth science.

Social Studies

The competencies of this subtest that will be evaluated include the comprehension of fundamental historical concepts and major happenings with regard to the state of Missouri, the United States, and the world; comprehension of the basic principles and theories related to geography; and comprehension of the basic principles and theories related to government and economics.

What is the most convenient way to register for this exam?

Online. Payment can be made via a credit, debit, or check cards that have a VISA or MasterCard logo. If you do not have a card with either of these logos, you can request information on how to pay using a check.

What is the cost of the exam?

The cost is $110 for all four subtests. Additional fees may apply.

What are the testing dates and locations?

Testing for MEGA Elementary Education Multi-Content (007-010) is offered at various sites throughout Missouri. There are also locations in other states that you may choose from. Additionally, you can select the date you’d like to take the exam, providing there is availability.

What should I do the day of the exam?

Arrive at the test site 15 minutes before your scheduled testing time. This will allow you time to park, check-in, and get settled before testing begins. Be careful not to arrive late at the test center, this could prevent you from being able to take the exam.

Bring a form of identification. It must include your name, signature, and photo. Examples of valid ID include a driver’s license and passport. If you do not submit proper identification, you will not be permitted to take the test.

This exam will come with a 4-function calculator on the computer screen, so you are not allowed to bring your own. Other examples of items that are prohibited, include a cell phone, purse, briefcase, dictionary, study materials, and food/drink.

Can I take a break during the test?

There is a 15-minute break between Subtests 2 and 3. Since this is a scheduled break, the testing clock will be stopped while you are on break. If you need to take any unscheduled breaks, the testing clock will not be stopped while you are on break, which means you will have less time for actual test-taking.

What happens after I take the exam?

Your score report will be released 2-3 weeks after taking the exam. If during registration you made the request, your score report will be emailed to you.

What must I earn to pass this exam?

The minimum passing score is 220 per subtest.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

You are allowed to re-take each subtest individually, after waiting a 30-day period.

How Can I Prepare for the MEGA Elementary Education Exam?

That’s a great question.  We’ve broken down the answer into three parts.

  1. Do yourself a favor and study.  Do not walk in unprepared. We have recommended prep materials below, but that only helps if you actually try.  Plus, studying is actually proven to be the best antidote to test anxiety.
  2. Take care of yourself.  Make sure you’re eating well, exercising, and sleeping.  All of these things are scientifically linked to brain performance.  If you take care of your body, you’ll be helping your grades.
