ParaPro Exam
Are you interested in becoming a teacher's aide? There's certainly a need for more of them in our nation. And until recently, getting a job as a teacher's aide wasn't all that complicated. You didn't need a college degree, and you didn't need to pass any tests. But that has changed, and you'll need to know about ParaPro test if you're hoping to become a teacher's aide. Due to the federal government passing the No Child Left Behind act a few years ago, schools are now required to certify that teachers' aides are competent and qualified. To do this, they use the ParaPro standardized test. It helps them qualify those people who would be an asset to the students and teacher in a classroom, and weed out those who just don't have what it takes to help kids learn and teachers do their jobs.
The ParaPro exam is given all over the country; you'll need to check with the school district where you're applying to work for dates, locations, and times. Right now it costs about $40 to take the ParaPro test, and you should plan on spending two and a half to three hours to take the exam. You are not allowed to use a calculator. There are 90 questions on the current version of the ParaPro test, and all of them are multiple choice. The majority of questions you'll be asked will cover basic skills in reading, writing, and math, but you'll also see several questions on teaching skills, to see if you know how to apply and transmit your knowledge in the classroom. Unless you have an associate or bachelor's degree, you'll have to pass the ParaPro test if you want to work in a public school as a teacher's aide. It's recommended that you get some study materials before attempting the ParaPro test.
