LSAT Exam

The LSAT is a standardized test designed to measure the knowledge and skills required for law students. Specifically, the test assesses the ability to write clearly and logically, to interpret the reasoning and argumentation of others, and to understand and apply the information found within a text. With the exception of the Writing Sample, the LSAT is in a multiple-choice format. Each candidate will be given a scaled score ranging from 120 to 180. Keep in mind that the Writing Sample is not graded, but copies of the candidate's responses will be sent to any law schools to which the student applies. The LSAT is offered four times every calendar year in testing centers around the world. The Law School Admission Council has established three different ways to register for the LSAT: on-line, telephone, or mail. Prospective test-takers are encouraged to register by phone or on-line if possible, so that they can find out immediately when and where they will be taking the exam. The LSAT costs $127 in the United States. There are a number of supplementary charges which are added when an individual registers late, requests a testing center change, or requests a test date change.
