CPAt Exam Review

Are you planning on enrolling in a trade school or institute? If so, then you will probably be required to take the CPAt, which is the Career Programs Assessment test. The CPAt is a fairly recent innovation in the field of student testing. It came about because a few trade schools and institutes were giving the whole industry a bad name by enrolling students who weren’t qualified to do the work required to graduate. They did this in order to get money from the unqualified students, much of it coming from federal student grants and federally financed student loans. They made lots of money, the students flunked out and had lots of debts, and the federal student aid program was being abused. To put a stop to this, the government requires that schools prove a student must be able to benefit from the education offered before enrolling them.

One of the main tools schools use to do this is the CPAt. It’s a test of basic skills in subjects you’ll need to have a firm grasp of before attempting higher education. By passing the CPAt, you’ll be showing that you’re qualified to do the work necessary to graduate from a trade or technical school. There are three parts to the test, and all together, it will take about an hour to complete the test. The language section tests for you skills at using the English language with proper grammar and vocabulary, etc. There are sixty questions on this portion, and you’ll need a score of at least 42 to pass. The reading part of the CPAt will gauge how well you do at understanding and applying written materials. You’ll have 30 questions here, and a passing score is 43 or higher. On the math section, you’ll be tested for basic high school math skills, such as multiplying and dividing. This part has 25 questions, and you’ll need at least a 41 to pass. Passing the CPAt is a stepping stone to a whole new future. Failing the CPAt means being locked into a low wage future. If you’re going to take the CPAt, make sure you pass-get some good study and prep materials before you take the test.
