CAHSEE Exam Review
Ten percent of all Americans live in the state of California, and California has always been one of the leaders among states when it comes to innovation and thinking outside the box in the field of education. And when it comes to guaranteeing the quality of a high school education, California has stepped up to the plate by instituting the California High School Exit Exam, or CAHSEE for short. The CAHSEE is a test that all high school students are required to pass in order to receive a high school diploma. This requirement was instituted to make sure that students graduating from high schools in California have achieved a certain level of knowledge and skills, and are capable of participating in the economy in a meaningful way, or going on to successfully pursue higher education. Students will first attempt to pass the test in the 10th grade; if they're successful, then they've met the requirement and can relax. If not, they'll have up to five more attempts over their junior and senior years.
The CAHSEE covers two areas-English language skills, and math skills. Students must achieve a minimum passing score on both sections of the CAHSEE, which is 350 on each test. The language portion of the CAHSEE consists of both multiple choice questions and a short essay that the student must write. The multiple choice questions test for skills in reading for information, literary reading, and grammar and vocabulary. The writing assignment on the CAHSEE will give the student the chance to demonstrate their skills at articulating a message and communicating it clearly and directly in proper English. The math portion of the CAHSEE is all multiple choice, and covers the whole range of high school math from basics of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing up through some geometry and Algebra 1. Passing the CAHSEE is essential to the future of every high school student in California, and it's not a test to be taken lightly. Quality study and prep materials are an excellent investment for anyone who needs to pass the CAHSEE.
