Business Tests

Share

People seeking positions in many businesses will be required to take certain business tests to prove competence in a wide range of office-related skills. The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) administers two such business examinations: the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) examination and the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) examination. A successful score on the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) examination shows potential employers that a candidate possesses a broad knowledge of various aspects of human resources. Similarly, success on the Project Management Professional (PMP) examination ensures potential employers that an employee is well-versed in the complicated leadership issues that surround project management.

Many employers use the Wonderlic Personnel Test-Revised (WPT-R) to determine a potential job candidate's ability to succeed in a particular position. This business test assesses a person's cognition/understanding level with regards to job-related information. As the job market becomes more competitive, employers may use the WPT-R more often to determine differences among otherwise equal job candidates.

People can prepare for these business tests by studying certain material and becoming familiar with the various tests. Review courses can teach potential test takers how to succeed on tests by explaining each test's unique format, types of questions, and end goals. If test takers understand what the examinations are testing and are familiar with the layout and general format, they will most likely perform better than those who have not prepared.
